All Finished - Scraps & Stitches
All Finished
A while ago, I said I was trying another way for getting a quilt finished. In that you make up the top into blocks. Then instead of sewing them all together to make one whole top, you cut the back and wadding into the same size as your block, quilt them and then sew it all together. Ok it is much easier to quilt this way, not having all that bulk trying too stuff it through your sewing machine. But it is allot more work sewing the quilted squares together. As now you have to do it one layer at a time.
Did turn out into a very nice looking quilt. Will I do it this way again? To be honest I don't know.

It's really pretty, Janet, considering there are no handsome men on it!!! *big grin*

It is way beyond 'nice looking' and quite obviously GORGEOUS!!!

Is there a name for the method you used to quilt this time? Like lap quilting or something?

I can mess about with fabrics for hours till I get it right. But I have no patience with anything else...

You can buy from most quilt shops over here, what they call
'Charm Packs' these are like 50 per cut - 41/2 inch squares for under £8 then all you have to do is work them into a quilt as I did.

I've never seen quilt packs here, it's not such a common hobby for such a warm country. :) The prices quoted on that site are very good though, thanks for the links!! Years ago I used to do embroidery and cross-stitch as a hobby, and used to sew most of my clothes, but with time, ready made clothes got cheaper, and material got more expensive, so I don't do that any more. (I have less time on my hands as well.)

Happy birthday! I won't bother saying the quilt is gorgeous, because you already know that. :) I hope your trip was a wonderous success.

Thanks for the birthday wish. Sorry this is late. Marilyn & I had a great trip back to Vancouver. I am still trying to get over the jetlag.
Was so good to see you both again.
Take Care.
