Last night's earthquake
was frightening! The noise woke us up. I came out of a sound sleep wondering what the hell was going on. Why so much noise, thought at first a plane had crashed, as we are in a low flying area. But once I woke a little realised the noise was under ground and the house was moving. Not damage so we're good...

Gosh! You're practically right on top of it over there. ::hugs::

We didn't get the huge noise so much here; just creaking sounds in the walls of the house itself. But the shaking was freaky - ten seconds is quite a long time, when you have no idea what is going on!

Yeah! We're about 40miles from Market Rasen so pretty close. The not knowing what was happening was the scary part.

I thought a plane had crashed, as we are in the low fly zone. But the sound was coming from under the house. Then the house moved. So scary. We're just 40 miles from the epicentre.

Janet, thank you for posting. Ever since Bev posted that the earthquake was centered in Lincolnshire I've been so worried about you. Very relieved to know you're okay.

Hey Ande! We're fine. Felt it pretty good, being just 40miles from the epicentre.I think the noise scared me more. But this house is too big to be rocking and rolling about.

Re: Thank GOD!

In the later 80's had a 5.4 in Wales. This was a first for us this strong. Hope it's not an omen of things to come.

Hi Luna. Yeah this was a first for me. Never thought I would wake up with my house moving. Can't say it didn't scare me cause it did. I guess you are used too this type of thing living in California..

Earthquake????!!!!!! Good grief -- I've never imagined the UK to be an earthquake active environment! I'm so glad you're fine.

Good grief in deed! Scared me pretty good. My house is too big to be moving about like that, but no damage so we're good
They say we have many small quakes a year that we really don't feel, but we felt this one for sure.

I'm glad you and your house are okay. I'm afraid I slept through the whole thing - I have an earthquake every night - commonly known as Louie! I'm used to jolts and thuds during the night!

Yeah! It scared us for a little while. Having not felt or heard any thing like that before.
My one cat flew off the bed, found her under the kitchen table and she wouldn't come out for quite a while..
