I was really starting to get worried, this past week when the weather men were saying possible frost. My greenhouse and veg garden are both full of new young plants, after all the work involved would hate too loose any of my plants.

In the greenhouse my butternut squash and another large squash are doing very well. I will move them outside once we know for sure it is going to stay a little warmer at night.

I also have egg plant, tomatoes have some quite large tomatoes on the plants already. I have melon 2 different kinds, some of those really hot peppers, that I will use in my relish later on.

This is just my greenhouse. Then I have a pretty big veg garden with the rest of my stuff. I also grow potato's in pot's, they don't grow well in the garden and they a wonderful grown in pots. These are all just outside the greenhouse.

It wasn't until I moved here and I saw just how much farmers spray the veg they grow in the fields. Where I used too live they grew mostly barley, wheat,rapeseed no veg at all. It was a real eye opener moving here... I cannot grow all my own food, but I do like to grow some..

So far it's all looking good. Have to wait and see what I get to harvest later on. Trying to grow allot of new things this year.

Warm would be good, so I can get some out of the greenhouse soon. Not sure what I am doing with some of this, so I hope I get to harvest something at the end of the year.

It all looks brilliant.

Alas, have nothing this year - life's just been too hectic.

re: potatoes; have you ever tried a potato tower (with tyres http://frugalupstate.blogspot.com/2006/06/potato-tower.html)? I love doing those things.

Re: It all looks brilliant.

Thanks Gilly! I have really started eating more vegetarian and I love squash, so thought I would see if they will grow in this area.
I haven't seen the potato tower before, might have to give that a try another year. Thanks for the link.

You have some lovely plants there. I hope they're doing well.

It came to my attention today that somehow I missed putting your name on my new filter that I use so that I don't always have to wade through all my comms and such when checking my friends on LJ.

So now I'm catching up with your latest posts. =>}

I am not sure about the melons. I don't have room to keep them in the greenhouse and we're not having the warmest of summers. but the squash are doing great as you can see.

Your garden is looking very lush. Nice little greenhouse, too. =>}

I love my greenhouse! I just wish it was bigger. Had too go with this one, as it is stronger than most for the high winds we get around here. As you can see we don't have anything to block the wind.

It's a very nice one. We get a fair amount of wind here but have lots of trees. There's more of a worry of branches falling on our little greenhouse. It's covered with hard plastic sheets. Once in awhile, especially in winter, one of the sheets will get ripped off, but since we only use it in the Spring and Fall, it can always be repaired in time.

The only problem I have had with this greenhouse.While mowing I ran over a stone and the mower through it into one of the glasses lucky it is all safty glass like a car windshild and it all fell to the ground like shiney snow

Yikes! Good thing for that safety glass!

Once J was cutting the lawn and hit a stone with the machine "aimed" at me. It just missed my head and went through a thick piece of heavy window glass, luckily not breaking the inner piece. If it had hit me, I wouldn't be here typing today.

That day, he learned NEVER to face the output thingy towards anyone or anything important. =>}
