Unique problem
at my house today..
I let my chickens out of the hut early as usual. I always leave them in the big pen for a while, to give to wild birds chance to have a feed before the chickens get onto the bird table and clean up.
Later as I went down to let them out to run free, I saw a hen Partridge hanging around the pen. As I let my chickens out, the Partridge came running over looking like she had found a long lost friend. Chickens were not to impressed at first but now a couple of hours later the Partridge is still with them even coming to the back door for scrapes with the hens.
I'm thinking I might have a new bird in the hut tonight..

Are partridges and quails related? They are both members of the Pheasant family. Quail are allot more colourful.

So cute. They are waiting so patiently.

Thank you for sharing.

Not so patient some days, they do knock on the window.

Isn't she cute! And tiny! I've never seen one up against a hen before. Looks like another beak to feed... *g*

I didn't realise my hens were so big. She is still around, just not quite so close as before. I think she would have a good court case for bullying.

Awww, bless! Hens can be terribly bossy... I had one sitting under my desk at work a couple of weeks ago (yeah, don't ask!) and she was a real pain to budge.

Once they decide where they want to be it's a real job trying to get them gone and stay gone. Partridge is still here this morning, she is hanging in there bless her..

Opportunists, all of them! :-) This partridge has clearly spotted an easy source of food.
