So many Pumpkins
We arrived back from vacation in Maine just in time to see the fields at the back and front of the house ripe and ready to pick. They were harvesting when we got home, for 4 days rain or shine getting the harvest in. The photo I have posted is just one quarter of the field in front of the house and in a couple of days they will plough what you see into the ground as they have to many pumpkins. What a waste...

Tell them he can give them to meeee! *G*

Baked, roasted, lasagne, ravioli, risotto... Lots you can do with a pumpkin.

The farm manager told us to take what we want, so come on down. More here than we can eat. Loads in the back field as well.

Mmmmm, pumpkin pie! And soup... *g* ::joins Gilly in the greedy corner::

Don't they look lovely though, all orange against the brown earth.

Like I told Gilly. The farm manager told us to take what we want way more here than I can use. Just hate to see them ploughed in. But the colour is so pretty right now..

At least ploughing them in is organic fertiliser for the ground!

I've never had pumpkin...

organic fertiliser- This is true. The photo is now all ploughed plus another 2/3's of the field. They did leave a few down one side.

Bring some to GMOH as party favors?

Unlike the others, tell them not to send them my way. Don't like pumpkin, never had and never will. *g* Maybe they could have a huge Halloween blitz!

I was thinking it would be nice to take some to the local junior school, for the kids to carve themselves one for Halloween. But it's to late now, they ploughed all in the photo plus another 2/3rd's of the field today just a strip left now. Maybe they found someone who wants to buy a few.

These are a pretty new crop for this country so maybe they don't know that yet. But they're gone now, all ploughed in..
