It is so hot here, I am getting nothing accomplished. By the time it cools down so I could do a little sewing, I'm so tired from the heat, all I want to do is sit. I wonder sometimes how I lived in Saudi Arabia for 7 years. That wasn't a dry heat either, most days in the summer it was around 117 degrees. The water temperature in the gulf, close to shore used to get to over 100 degrees. Where we lived 100 yards from the beach of the Persian gulf it was so humid some days could cut it with a knife. But I don't remember it bothering me, like this heat is doing now.

Maybe tomorrow will be cooler!

Ouch...I know what you mean though. I am having the same issues with the heat. I tried working through it but I can't think. I tried sleeping after dinner and working later but when it's still hot at 1am, what can you do? I have so much to get done but am exhausted from it. I hope it lets up soon. I grew up in the Southeast and it was hot and humid there but every house had AC. I really miss AC.

Hope it's better for you guys really soon. *hugs*

We're both missing the A/C, My poor cats don't know what to do with themselves, they are having trouble finding cool spots in the house these days. Feel like going out & hosing down my horse only because I know I will get pretty wet as well,& that way I wont look like I'm playing in the water like a kid.

Take care Suzi! hope you cool off soon as well.

I had this same conversation yesterday with a friend who lived in Dubai for years and is now also suffering with the rest of us. She thinks it's just down to being used to it - we don't get hot long enough in this country to adapt. Sounds as good a theory as any. *g*

Oh lovely - I love older cats, they're so much more laid back. Pretty colours too. Stars!

I think it's just the sheer humidity we get with heat in summer. I could be wrong (I've never been there) but even with some humidity, I'd guess Saudi heat was always dryer than here.
I lived in Cuba for 9 years and the heat there averaged 30+ most days with 90%+ humidity and it was killer! We had no a/c there, either (it was illegal outiside public buildings) and the only way I got through the nights in August was to shower and lay, wet and naked, in front of a fan for a precious bit of sleep. As soon as I got dry, though, the heat would wake me and I'd have to go and get wet again. Not something I especially want to go through again. )o:

If you lived away from the coast, yes! it was very dry, but on the coast would get 117 degrees with 99% humidity, so not fun, but we did have A/C in our home's. Can't imagine living through what you did. We all find ways to cope, I'm just not doing to well at the coping right now.

It seems to be a sucky(is that a word?) summer all around,it's been mostly cloudy and cool and wet here so far.We seemed to have 2 weeks of real summer this year.
My grumpy guy's uncle is visiting from Texas with a large group and they are very happy with the weather. But then again they don't have the long dark winter ahead either.*sigh
A least the air is clear of smoke from forest fires so far this year.

My sister lives in Dallas she had it at 107 the other day so I'm sure they are loving the cool weather..I am one of those funny folks, who loves Fall & Winter.

Forest fires are one thing we don't have to much over here, sometimes the Heath land or Moors might catch fire when it is so dry, like it is now.

It's so strange - it seems to be roasting hot everywhere! DC (where I work) gets very humid. I take the dog for a walk after sunset. It's the only way I can stand it.

At least I don't have to walk the cat's. Alma pictured, is at the moment laying on her back in front of a floor fan. We get heat like this more & more now over hear, haven't had any rain at my house for going on 6 weeks.
Love your little dog!!

I'm getting very hot and uncomfortable just reading how everyone is suffering! It's hot here, too, in Pennsylvania, and today is really humid. But I'm tucked in my room with an AC and a big fan, determined not to move until it cools down!

It's hard trying to sew when it's hot and humid, isn't it? Everything is sticky, and nothing wants to lay right.

When my hands are all sticky, I don't like to touch my fabric cause of all the oils in the hands. Pennsylvania is very like Illinois & Indiana for the weather, I have lived in both places, used to get some good storms that cleared the air, we don't get that to much hear. The only way I am going to get any A/C is to get the car out!!

Hee! I can just see you, dragging your sewing machine out to the car!

Hi Janet. I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area and today was 112 and tomorrow is supposed to be 114 degrees. I don't remember being this hot last year, but I know it was. I just forget from year to year. *g*

Hi Patt. A/C is a wonderful thing! over here you would have to win the lottery first, before you could afford it.
